Arab Activists discuss with KARAMAH Family Law and Women’s Rights in Respective Countries

On Thursday December 17th, 2015, KARAMAH met with Arab leaders from Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Iraq, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. The group of leaders that included human rights activists, attorneys and scholars discussed with Ms. Aisha Rahman, KARAMAH executive director, and Dr. Azizah al-Hibri, KARAMAH Founder, the status of Muslim women’s rights in the US and in Arab countries. The leaders also discussed specific challenges facing women in their respective countries and obstacles patriarchy poses.

The leaders were excited to learn about KARAMAH’s work and especially the Law and Leadership Summer Program and expressed interest in taking part in the program.
