Salma is a writer, blogger and storyteller, with a focus on sharing personal essays as a way to help people understand one another better. Her work has been published in national and international media, including The Washington Post, the Washingtonian and The Huffington Post. Through her storytelling consulting practice, Salma helps individuals, nonprofits and businesses develop, write and market their own stories; her clients range from artists to investment firms to people interested in capturing their own personal story. Salma is Chief Inspiration Officer and Board Vice President of KindWorks, an award winning nonprofit that promotes volunteerism. She is Vice Chair of The Concordia Forum, a global network of leaders from Muslim background, and head of ConcordiART. Salma was a Finalist for the 2019 March of Dimes "Heroines of Washington" Award and was nominated for the El Hibri Foundation Community Builder Award in 2017 and 2019. Previously, Salma worked as a writer, editor, and press and information leader for international organizations in Geneva, Paris, Stockholm, Bahrain and New York.
