KARAMAH Hosts Community Iftar at the Nation’s Mosque – Masjid Muhammad!

On Tuesday June 21, 2016, KARAMAH hosted its annual community Iftar at Masjid Muhammad D.C., the Nation’s Mosque. Like each year, the masjid was filled to capacity. Nearly 200 attendees of different backgrounds and faiths united to celebrate Ramadan with us, share delicious halal food, get to know one another, and celebrate our common denominator- humanity. KARAMAH’s Chairwoman, Saleema Snow, remarked: “It was wonderful to see the diversity in the room – a true community affair. The Iftar reinforced that we were created in tribes, so that we may know one another.” Hosting this Iftar is very significant for KARAMAH given its spiritual and communal benefit. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “Whoever feeds a fasting person will have a reward like that of the fasting person, without any reduction in his reward.” This iftar was a way for us to express our appreciation to the community that has been very supportive of our work and we hope to continue promoting greater cohesiveness within the Muslim community – truly, we are all one family.
