U.S. Supreme Court’s Ruling in EEOC v. Abercrombie & Fitch Case

KARAMAH welcomes the U.S. Supreme Court ruling (8-1) in favor of Samantha Elauf, a Muslim American woman who wears a headscarf and who was denied a job by Abercrombie & Fitch Co. on the grounds that her headscarf violated the company’s “look policy.” The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) sued Abercrombie on behalf of Ms. Elauf. KARAMAH was one of the signatories to the two amici curiae briefs for the EEOC in this case. KARAMAH celebrates this important victory which helps ensure that applicants and employees do not have to choose between their religion and their job.   Check out the Supreme Court’s decision here.
