Opponents of the&nbsp;<em>Shari\u2019a<\/em>&nbsp;law have found in the subject an ideal opportunity to attack Islamic law as patriarchal and unjust to women. Some have even argued that&nbsp;<em>Shari\u2019a<\/em>&nbsp;law, in its entirety, should be abolished. On the other hand, many serious Muslim scholars and activists are themselves troubled by these Pakistani laws regarding&nbsp;<em>zina<\/em>&nbsp;and rape.
