Though we miss them, we are excited about their next steps. They are a talented group of leaders, and we are sure that they will affect substantial change in their respective communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/karamah.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_0501resize.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/karamah.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_0501resize.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0501resize\" class=\"wp-image-9560 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Hilary Shelton, NAACP Washington Bureau Director and Senior Vice President for Advocacy, gave commencement remarks to the graduating LLSP class. Mr. Shelton made comments on the current state of civil rights and justice in America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/karamah.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_0380_verneer.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/karamah.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_0380_verneer-256x300.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0380_verneer\" class=\"wp-image-9546 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 256px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 256\/300;\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The day before graduation, Ambassador Melanne Verveer, Executive Director of &nbsp;the&nbsp;Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security, and former U.S. Ambassador for Global Women\u2019s Issues, spoke about the need to promote women\u2019s rights all over the world. \u201cWomen\u2019s rights are consistent with Quranic values that protect women and advocate for their education and well being,\u201d she said. \u201cEducated women&nbsp;advocate for rights, build a network\u2026and help other women&nbsp;raise their voices successfully.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/karamah.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_0331resize.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/karamah.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_0331resize.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0331resize\" class=\"wp-image-9570 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Ambassador James Jones, the former&nbsp;U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, a recognized leader in the fields of law, government and business shared his experience with LLSP participants. He spoke about political leadership. Ambassador Jones noted that, as a leader, you should \u201cdo your homework, know your adversaries, and judge your circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/karamah.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/350.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/karamah.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/350-300x244.jpeg\" alt=\"350\" class=\"wp-image-9545 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/244;\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Imam Mohamed Magid is Director of&nbsp;All Dulles Area Muslim Society in Sterling, Va. and former President of Islamic Society of North America. He spoke to the&nbsp;participants&nbsp;about sources of Islamic knowledge.&nbsp;\u201cThe path to God is the path of knowledge.
