Founded in 1951, the Charlottesville Committee on Foreign Relations (CCFR) is a civic, non-partisan organization dedicated to promoting informed discussion of American foreign policy and international affairs. This event with Dr. al-Hibri was an opportunity for members of the Charlottesville community to learn about Shari\u2019ah directly from a Muslim scholar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lecture was part of KARAMAH\u2019s efforts to educate the public about \u201cIslam, Shari\u2019ah, and Religious Freedom in the U.S.\u201d. During the event, Dr. al-Hibri explained what Islamic law is, and how it is practiced in the U.S., and noted that it is consistent with American constitutional values. She also referred to the anti-Shari\u2019ah laws and noted their unconstitutionality.
