On Friday, April 9, 2010, KARAMAH, in cooperation with the El-Hibri Charitable Foundation and Unity Productions Foundation, held a film screening of Inside Islam: What a Billion Muslims Really Think and a panel discussion, \u201cWhat a Billion Muslims Really Think: Human Rights and Muslim Women.\u201d The panel discussion focused on issues relating to human rights for Muslim women as revealed in the world\u2019s first major opinion poll of Muslims around the globe. Featured speakers: Dalia Mogahed, Alexander Kronemer and Dr. Azizah Y. al-Hibri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dalia Mogahed is a Senior Analyst and Executive Director of the Gallup Center for Muslim Studies, a nonpartisan research center that provides data-driven analysis on the views of Muslim populations around the world. A member of President Obama\u2019s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, Ms. Mogahed is also the leading analyst in an unprecedented survey of over one billion Muslims worldwide, the findings of which are discussed in Inside Islam: What a Billion Muslims Really Think.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alex Kronemer is a writer, lecturer and executive producer of Inside Islam. He has a Master\u2019s Degree in Theological Studies from Harvard University, where his research concentrated on the philosophy of religion and comparative religion. A co-founder of Unity Productions Foundation, Mr. Kronemer is creator and co-producer of the popular PBS documentaries, Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet and Prince Among Slaves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Azizah Y. al-Hibri, Esq., a professor of law at the T. C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond, is Founder and Chairperson of KARAMAH. As the founding editor of Hypatia: a Journal of Feminist Philosophy and a widely read Islamic scholar, Dr. al-Hibri has written extensively on the issues of Islam and democracy, Muslim women\u2019s rights, and human rights in Islam, and is currently completing a book on the Islamic marriage contract in U.S. courts.
