KARAMAH Members from U.S., E.U. and North Africa meet at the Casablanca Conference

Last week, members of the KARAMAH family in the US, the European Union and North Africa met in Casablanca to assess the effects of the Arab Spring on women and to build bridges between women on the three continents. The event was hosted by al-Hidn, a Moroccan educational and social services organization which has consultative status at the United Nations.

Senior members of KARAMAH’s jurist network were present. The discussions were frank and fruitful focusing on the necessity of providing women with religious and leadership education. The most important issues of the day in each community were raised and the jurists are now working on addressing these issues from a scholarly perspective. Plans have been made for regular interaction and advancing solidarity among all these communities of women.
