KARAMAH Offers Condolences on the Passing of Dr. Jamal Barzinji

The KARAMAH family is deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Jamal Barzinji, a modest and kind man who deeply valued his faith. Dr. Barzinji was a leader and pioneer who dedicated decades of his life establishing and developing some of the oldest American Muslim institutions. These institutions continue to serve our community till this day. May they count in his balance of good deeds.

Expressions of grief that have befallen our community at Dr. Barzinji’s passing have been both deep and beautiful. They are full of memories that celebrate his leadership, strategic vision, forgiving nature, and good friendship. Above all, he was deeply loved by those who worked with him. One of those who was close to him and worked with him, commemorated Dr. Barzinji’s life by saying, “His real gift, however, was his strategic mind, his leadership and his organizational skills… His style and approach to doing things was unique. He combined an agreeable and easygoing personality with a principled and disciplined character. He taught those who surrounded him excellence through action rather than words, and he was a team player who knew how to work with the most difficult people, and was as such the rock that brought stability to the organizations and communities he helped found and develop.” We could not have said it any better.

May Allah forgive Dr. Barzinji, raise his rank, exalt his status, make his grave one of the gardens of Paradise and may He grant him an abode in Paradise! Ameen. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’oun.” (From God we come and to Him we return.)
