Ms. Mona Ahsan is an attorney with experience in a broad range of areas, including health care, employment law, business, veteran issues, immigration, and family matters in both Federal and State Courts. Ms. Ahsan has an LLM in Health Law from Loyola University in Chicago, and is licensed to practice in the states of Illinois and California.

Ms. Ahsan is the principal attorney in the Law Offices of Mona Ahsan, Esq., in Springfield, Illinois. She has represented clients in Family Court hearings and trials in matters of divorce, domestic violence, child custody, child kidnapping, parental visitations, and protective orders. Throughout her career, Ms. Ahsan provided pro bono representation to battered women in courts and in matters of immigration. She has also represented clients in wrongful termination, discrimination and retaliation in administrative proceedings and Federal Court. Ms. Ahsan has also advised, drafted and reviewed various business contracts, security agreements, software application agreements, and a wide range of healthcare matters.

Prior to establishing her law office, Ms. Ahsan was an associate attorney at the Law Offices of Joseph La Carta, and later at Lorens and Associates in San Diego, California. She was also a volunteer attorney at Alternate Public Defender’s Office in Vista California, and a law clerk at the United States Attorney’s Office in the Western District of Michigan. While in law school, Ms. Ahsan served as a summer intern to U.S. District Judge Joe Billy McDade in the Central District of Illinois, Peoria, Illinois.

Ms. Ahsan has been a volunteer attorney with NAACP in Springfield, Illinois and received the NAACP Legal award in 2019 for her service. She has been involved with the ACLU Springfield Board, and the board of Liturgical Arts Festival of Springfield, an interfaith civic organization that fosters interfaith connections through art education and music. Additionally, Ms. Ahsan has been a strong proponent of the Children of Abraham project that brings children from the three Abrahamic faiths together. As a member of the Islamic Society of Greater Springfield, she has been part of the interfaith committee and has hosted Iftar dinners for people of other faiths. Ms. Ahsan has been involved in protesting hateful racism, Islamophobia, and Antisemitism.

Ms. Ahsan worked with KARAMAH post 9-11 to take cases of Islamophobia to the US DOJ’s Civil Rights Department, and attended related White House and State Department meetings. She also assisted in setting up a battered women assistance Program in KARAMAH and attended Catholic charities workshops on the VAWA and refugee immigration programs. Ms. Ahsan was one of the pioneers who attended KARAMAH’s first Women’s Leadership Program in Richmond, VA, and was an active participant in KARAMAH’s signature events, that included then Secretary Condoleezza Rice, and Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.
