There is nothing more special than the comfort of a community, and KARAMAH embraced this special feeling this past Tuesday during its annual community iftar at Masjid Muhammad. Over 150 community members gathered to break their fast with one another in an evening of laughter, joy, and prayer.
As the call to prayer washed over a room full of friends, both new and old, KARAMAH volunteers prepared plates of fresh fried chicken, mac’n’cheese, collard greens, and salmon. After maghrib prayer, those present gathered together to break bread, get to know one another, and celebrate the blessing of community.
By sponsoring such community iftars, KARAMAH strives to spread a message of unity and hope – one that breaks barriers between those from varying walks of life, and one that embodies the spirit of equity and justice in Islam. KARAMAH works to spread this message of equity and cohesion in the Muslim community, and was honored and humbled to be a part of this happy gathering.
