Today marks the first day of KARAMAH’s 14th annual Law and Leadership Summer Program (LLSP). KARAMAH’s Chair, Saleema Snow, Esq., greeted LLSP’s eighteen participants and welcomed them to KARAMAH. Ms. Snow read an inspiring passage from one of Zora Neale Hurston’s short stories: “When we are not satisfied with how we lived our past, and when we are not satisfied with what we envision for our immediate future, we will always find comfort in remembering that we possess the power to cut a new path for ourselves. ”
Ms. Snow emphasized the skills unique to each LLSP participant, and how these skills can help bring about social change, especially when coupled with the leadership and training offered at LLSP. Her final advice was to relinquish our instinct for self-glorification, which is crucial to our development as leaders. Over the next three weeks, we are excited to see these women leaders learn more about the leadership style they will develop in their future endeavors.
