Women Trailblazers in the Muslim American Legal Community

Slide1

In celebration of Women’s History Month, CAMBA and KARAMAH invite you to learn about contemporary women who are “making history” for the Muslim American legal community. The community is growing in size and presence, and it offers a compelling narrative of diverse women who have played an early role in founding our institutions and achieving important professional milestones. Their accomplishments are reflective of the wide-ranging talent that all women provide to the bench and bar throughout America.

Confirmed speakers include:

– Azizah Al-Hibri: Founder, KARAMAH: Muslim Women Lawyers for Human Rights; Professor Emerita, University of Richmond School of Law

-Asifa Quraishi-Landes: Founder, NAML: National Association of Muslim Lawyers; Associate Professor of Law, University of Wisconsin Law School

-Zakia Mahasa: first Muslim woman to preside over an American courtroom; Master in Chancery at Circuit Court for Baltimore City
